Diary
Diary is simple yet powerful database to keep personal and private notes, pictures and files.
You do not need to be worried that someone will get into possession of the diary.
All notes, pictures and files are unreadable without the password.
Each entry you can assign to specific category.
Later you will use category tree to quickly filter out diary entries.
In just one moment you will get to all notes related to your family, spouse, friends, events, places or memories.
The category tree can be customized.
Add your own nodes to organize entries any way you want.
To each of your entries you can drop files (pictures, clips, etc.). Files are encrypted and cannot be accessed without the password.
Data Organizer keeps track of creation and modification dates for each entry.
With one click you can sort entries starting from newest or oldest ones.
How to start
Download and install Data Organizer.
Launch the application. If you are doing this for the first time the Create new database dialog should welcome you
(if you do not see it, click the New button in the main toolbar).
There are different database templates available. Choose one called Diary and click the OK button.
Data Organizer creates a new database for you in a standard location and opens it immediately.
You are set up to work.
Adding a new entry
To add a new item click
button or hit Ctrl+N.
You will be taken immediately to a new form where you can start entering your notes.
Give some useful title to your note. You will see it later in the list of your entries.
Assigning your entries to categories
Take a look at the tree control in the right top corner of the application. That is the category tree. When you edit an entry, this control shows
categories to which the entry belongs.
How can you take advantage of it? Think for a moment about the main subject of your entry. Does it refer to your family, friends or some event
like a cinema trip, rock concert, first word of your baby, etc? Then put a check near the category that best describes that subject.
If you do not see a category for your current entry, add one by right clicking in the tree control and selecting
Add new category command.
A new category with a dummy name will be created. Click it to rename it.
Finding your entries
There are many ways you can browse your diary. Click all categories button and you will see all your items in the list. You can sort the list using any column
(title of the entry, creation date or last modification date).
If you want to see only entries assigned to a specific category first turn off all categories (use None button) and then check only the category you are interested in.
Note that you can switch on/off multiple categories to modify your list.
The search form above the list lets you find entries with specific words inside.
Setting up password for the diary
If you want to make your entries secure go to the properties of the database and set up a password.
Note that password is the only key allowing you or anyone else to read and modify the diary. Keep it save and your entries will stay secure as well.
Need more?
Note that Data Organizer is not just a diary. Database templates let you use the application as personal information manager, inventory database,
media database, recipes database or book database.
If you need some other solution request an empty database using the "empty" template and create your own forms and category tree from scratch.
